Why Donate to Special Horses?
Our mission is to help small equine welfare organizations grow and thrive! We run online auctions and fundraisers, provide them with emergency funds, help them craft grant applications, provide them with marketing materials...and more!
We are a highly-rated 501(c)3 charity (scroll down to see our credentials), so your donations are tax-deductible, and best of all, your donations will help us to help these rescue organizations and any horses in their care. Your donations also provide funds for our operating expenses, which we strive to keep to a minimum. These operating expenses include yearly domain name renewal, website maintenance and hosting, 501(c)3 registration in the states where we solicit donations for the rescues, costs to maintain fundraising platforms, annual subscription to a grants database, mailing costs, and accountant fees. Donate to Our General Operating Fund
Donating to Special Horses for general operating expenses helps us provide flexible and essential support for the rescues we serve. Your gift ensures that the rescues can continue their lifesaving work, giving neglected and at-risk horses a second chance at a safe, healthy, and loving future. Every dollar makes a difference!
Donate to Our Emergency Fund
A one-time $100.00 gift will be made by The Special Horses Emergency Fund to any US-based equine rescue 501(c)(3) organization in good standing with the IRS and their state. Funds will be used to help defray urgent and unexpected costs for the organization. The goal is to provide immediate funds within 24-hours of the request, with minimal application and follow-up paperwork. The focus is on equine welfare organizations whose annual budget is $100,000 or less.
Make a Memorial Donation
A memorial gift may be made to honor the memory of any animal or person who would be pleased to know that a gift in their name would go to help equines in need.

Donate Via a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle where donors contribute cash, stocks, or other assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to qualified charities over time, with the funds growing tax-free. The DAF Direct link on our website allows donors to directly recommend grants to Special Horses from their donor–advised fund. This does not incur any download or transaction fees.

Donate Items for Our Fundraisers
If you have an item you’d like to donate to a future auction – and it doesn’t have to be horse-related – we would love to include it in one of our fundraisers! All donated items are tax deductible. If you are an artist or crafter, all work is promoted on the websites and social media pages for Special Horses and for the participating groups. We can upload items for up to three days into the current auction or reserve an item for an upcoming fundraiser. Please contact us using the link below.
