Our Verified Rescue Organizations
Our verified organizations, below, have met the following criteria:
- The organization must be a 501(c)(3) public charity in good standing with the IRS and their state of incorporation and have received tax-exempt status at least one year prior to the request. They must be fiscally transparent and responsive to their donors. Organizations using fiscal sponsors are not eligible.
- Only organizations with annual budgets of $100,000 or under are eligible.
- At least 51% of the voting members of the board of directors be unrelated.
(NOTE: The Special Horses Board of Directors reviews all requests and welcomes new eligible inquiries. A few organizations we support no longer meet the budget criteria but have been grandfathered in due to the length of the relationship and their ongoing commitment to equine welfare.)
