New Fundraiser: The Exceller Fund Anniversary Auction
New Special Horses Fundraiser:
The Exceller Fund Anniversary Auction
Join Us as We Celebrate the Partnership between The Exceller Fund and The Tulsa Boys’ Home!
WHEN: October 24th - October 31ST, 2026
Fifteen years ago, the first Exceller Fund horses arrived at the Tulsa Boys’ Home, a state-of-the-art residential treatment facility for troubled boys. It was the beginning of an incredible partnership that gave retired Thoroughbreds an alternate path to a new career. They became a part of an equine-assisted psychotherapy program, which the Tulsa
Boys’ Home has developed and expanded. It is now used to teach professional therapists across the country. Every resident at the Tulsa Boys’ Home participates in this non-riding program designed for cognitive behavior change and healing.
Today, a dozen Exceller Fund horses reside at this amazing facility. The Exceller Fund pays the “hard costs” of care, including feed, farrier, dental and veterinary expenses. It has been a tremendous success for all parties involved, especially the horses and the boys.
The horses typically transition well to this “retirement job” as they were accustomed to daily handling at the racetrack. The sensitivity of Thoroughbreds makes them wonderful therapy horses. However, if a horse ever shows disinterest in participating, The Exceller Fund has a special care farm located an hour away where they are given
lifetime sanctuary.
The Exceller Fund is accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and has received funding from Thoroughbred Charities of America.
