A Fundraiser to Support The Exceller Fund's Rescue of Thoroughbred "Racing Warriors"

Upon learning of Exceller’s grim fate, a handful of racing fans came together to help former Thoroughbred racehorses and The Exceller Fund was born. The network of people and organizations determined to help these horses has grown exponentially over the years as awareness has spread. Today, The Exceller Fund continues to provide care and sanctuary for these amazing, retired equine athletes with a focus on “Racing Warriors,” Thoroughbreds that have spent years on the track and may not be suitable as adoption candidates due to wear and tear from extraordinarily long racing careers.

The Exceller Fund has always operated by using satellite and foster facilities around the country to care for our horses. We are looking to expand our operations and programming in the upcoming years, but we can only do that with the help of our dedicated supporters.

HOW THE FUNDRAISER WORKS

It's that time of year when the TEF Racing Warriors start to think about filling up the hay sheds (well, it's ALWAYS that time of year!). Four Racing Warriors - Handsome Jolly Jim, Fax A Freddy, Crypto Gulch, and Salt on the Rim have asked Special Horses to help them get the word out to Santa. For as little as $5, you can help stock the hay barns at The Exceller Fund foster farms. Each semi of hay costs $7,500 - that includes transport and shipping costs. The hay is brought in from Nebraska to Oklahoma - TEF purchases only premium forage (almost all leaf, no stems or "chewy" stuff in there) so that every Racing Warrior gets the nutrition they need.

The Exceller Fund is accredited by the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and has received funding from Thoroughbred Charities of America.
