Secret Santa for Horse Rescues
Fundraiser Runs from December 1st - 31st, 2025
Welcome to our longest-running and most beloved fundraiser! The holiday season is the perfect time to help horses in need and also get an end-of-the-year, charitable tax deduction! This fundraiser is set up in a shopping cart format, and you can help more than one rescue organization and more than one horse...the more the merrier! We've chosen horses from five excellent rescue organizations across the United States, listed below, and every gift—whether a financial contribution or the purchase of an item—makes a huge difference! You will also receive a personal thank you from each horse you help!

Learn About Special Horses
Special Horses is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for equines in need. WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR DONATIONS, we just want you to know what we do! However, Special Horses is 100% volunteer, and we have operating expenses, so if you would like to donate to help with our costs, choose any of the checkboxes above.
- GRANT ASSISTANCE: Special Horses will help research for funding opportunities and offer advice and assistance in crafting and submitting applications.
- MARKETING MATERIALS: Special Horses creates flyers, brochures, and social media graphics for upcoming events and other needs.
- EMERGENCY FUND: A $100.00 gift will be made to a 501(c)(3) equine rescue organization in good standing with the IRS and its state to help defray urgent and unexpected costs. Annual budgets must be $100,000 or under.
- ONLINE FUNDRAISERS: Special Horses helps solicit donations by creating, running, and promoting online auctions and other fundraisers.
- SPECIAL HORSES RESCUE SUPPORT GROUP - an online (Facebook) educational forum that shares information on donor stewardship, grantsmanship, marketing, and other resources.
Special Horses received their 501(c)(3) charitable status from the IRS on March 13, 2010. Here's the math:
- 95 Emergency Fund gifts (since 2018)
- Over $225,000 in funds raised
- Multiple brochures and flyers created
- Many grants submitted (and awarded!)
- Over 100 unique welfare organizations assisted
- Rated Four Stars and with Four Beacons on Charity Navigator ( https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/270544576 )
